What is a Medicare Advantage Plan?
A Medicare Advantage plan is a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private insurance company that contracts with Medicare to provide beneficiaries with all of the Part A and Part B benefits. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) pay the insurance company to administer these benefits.

You can generally join a Medicare Advantage Plan if you meet all of the following conditions:

You don't have End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
How much does a Medicare Advantage Plan cost?
In addition to your monthly part B premium (usually $174.70) you must pay a monthly premium for the services included in the plan. The standard Part B premium amount in 2024 is $174.70. The total cost of the premiums, co-payments and deductibles you pay under a Medicare Advantage plan is often lower than the total costs for coinsurance, co-payments and deductibles in Original Medicare. Each Medicare Advantage Plan charges different premiums and has different costs for services, so it’s imperative to check with the plan before you join.
